Long Island, New York Precinct postage donations needed
Hi,
I am one of the Precinct Leaders for the Ron Paul 2008 campaign.
I am going to go canvass now with this letter that I wrote to my fellow Republicans:

Other RP supporters may copy this letter or modify it for your own use.
I have started this chip-in because I just ordered over $100 of slim-jims and I plan to mail them out along with the RP "issues" download.
The thing is, I am unemployed and beyond broke (CC's and $40,000 in student loans). Although I added to my debt to donate to the campaign and now buy the slim-jims, plus however much money I will be spending on paper and ink to print all this extra stuff, there is no way that I can afford the added postage costs.
So, I hope to raise enough money through this chip-in to cover the cost of stamps for 1,000 letters. That would be $410, but after paypal charges I am guessing it will be closer to $450.
That would be $10 per person if 45 people chip-in. I think this is a reasonable amount to get the word out to a very Republican stronghold (Irish Catholics here).
I just ordered the slim-jims, so they won't be here in time for me to actually walk to all the houses. That is why I wrote this letter, which is much more personal (my own words). I figure this way there will be a steady stream of RP info up to the Feb. 5 primary.
The NY primary is on Super Tuesday, so I need to have the money to purchase stamps by Wednesday, Jan.30 so that I can mail the letters / slim-jims on Thursday so that people get them by the weekend.
Can Ron Paul win NY? YES! Rudy has been completely DUMPED by the NY press! Huckabee is so NOT NY material. The only others are McCain and Romney, but Jim Ostrowski was recently interviewed in the NY Daily News (big NYC paper) and he said:
"When New York Republicans hear Ron Paul's message of lower federal spending, border security and avoidance of costly nation-building oversees, they will vote for Ron Paul over Washington insider McCain. Before you vote for John McCain, ask yourself: can he beat Hillary Clinton in November?รข??
The New York Conservative Party (3rd largest Party in the State) planned to endorse Fred Thompson if he did well in SC, but I guess that's out of the question now. They do not say much about national politics on their site, other than links to news articles, all of them anti-McCain and anti-Huckabee. So, it seems that the only candidates not mentioned are Ron Paul and Romney. I cannot imagine the NY Conservative Party ever endorsing Rudy, as the party was formed back in the 60's in revolt of liberal, socialist politics pouring out of NYC.
We just need a good showing in NY against McCain and Huckabee to have a real impact on the overall race.
